WHAT: 5K, 10K Fun Run and Kid’s 1/4 Mile
WHEN: Saturday, October 18, 2008
WHERE: Franklin Elementary School, 7050 Franklin School Rd, Loomis  map                                                                                           
COST:  Adult (18 +):  $18, 17 and under: $10,  Race Day Cost:  Adult (18 +):  $23, 17 and under: $15.  Family package: $25 (family is 3 or more in immediate family, registration must be submitted together, with one form per person.)  Entries must be postmarked by 10/10/08. Register online until 10/13/08 at race day price after 10/10/08.  1/4 mile (12 & under): free, ribbons for all participants.  No need to register for kid's 1/4 mile.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

5K: Course is out and back with a moderate hill.

10K: Course is a loop that begins on the same course as the 5K and has several moderate, up and down hills.

 Course Route:  (Aide stations will be provided along the course)

Both the 5K and 10K runs start at Franklin School, Right onto Laird Road, 10K will turn right onto Cavitt Stallman, Right on Barton, Right on Wells Road, Left back onto Laird and back to Franklin School. 

5K will turn around just before Cavitt Stallman Road.

 The first 400  5K and 10K entrants will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and goodie bag.  Participants in the Kid’s ¼ mile run will receive a completion ribbon.

 This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event,
there will be no refunds, rather, your entry fee will be used as a donation to L.B.E.F.

Proceeds from MandaRUN ’07 funded $11,000 in innovation grants to 13 different teachers and community members in the LUSD. Grants providing new learning opportunities include:

ü       World Musical Instruments, cultural learning through music,

ü       WINGS character education & new student assimilation

ü       First California, Then the World, 4^th grade history program

ü       Kindergarten Phonemic Awareness computer program

ü       Kindergarten Guided Reading & Daily Reader Library materials

ü       Franklin school garden expansion,

ü       Waterford, computer phonics program

ü       Mondavi Center Multicultural School Matinee

ü       3^rd grade Classroom Library materials

ü       Life Centered Career Exploration for 7^th & 8^th Grade Sp Ed

ü       3^rd grade at-risk reader resource materials
